What do you think of when you think of THANKSgiving....? Is it about GIVING THANKS.... or more so just getting ready to lay on the couch in a food coma? Why has this holiday turned into something where we are hurting animals and our own bodies? If you're looking for new traditions or ways to celebrate this holiday in a more mindful way.... here are some ideas!!
GIVE THANKS TO YOUR BODY
This time of year we are suseptible to illness and lowered immunity due to over-indulging in unhealthy habits. It is more important than ever during these winter holiday months to spend time on self care and have go to nourishing practices. Moving your body is a great way to keep the immune and digestive systems strong and to keep your mental/emotional bodies balanced when spending too much time with the dreaded family... lol. Schedule some extra time for self care; take a yoga class, go on a run outside, slow down and listen to the messages of the body and mind.
GIVE BACK TO OTHERS
With Black Friday looming over us, it seems that this holiday has turned into a consumerism holiday and is all about ME, rather than about OTHERS. It is easy to get lost in the self. The challenge is to slow down enough to think about the bigger picture, how little you actually need, and how much in need so many others are. The holidays are a perfect time to volunteer at a local food kitchen, give clothes to charity, or simple random acts of kindness. Get in touch with your truth and how you can best assist in spreading LOVE and LIGHT to those in need.
SPEND TIME APPRECIATING THE WONDER OF NATURE
Nature manifests with effortless ease and has so many silent, simple, profound messages for us if we slow down enough to hear them. Try and spend extra time outside and connecting with nature's perfection. Stand outside, observe, listen, BREATHE, JUST BE. Spending time in nature and witnessing the divinity in the wind, the sun, the trees, will make you feel more connected, alive, grateful... and will also help you to feel this vibrant life force within yourself.
